Biography

Robyn S. Goodman is Professor of Communication Studies at Alfred University in New York, USA. She is a WJEC steering committee member, Syndicate Program chair and principal editor of the WJEC-endorsed text Global Journalism Education in the 21st Century: Challenges and Innovations (Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas, 2017) – now available in Spanish.

She is also a co-editor of Critical Perspectives on Journalistic Beliefs and Actions: Global Experiences (Routledge, 2018).

Her teaching and research focus on improving journalistic coverage, especially international and minority (“other”) related; global journalism education; and the social construction of knowledge. She is an International Communication Research Journal editorial board member and former head of the Association for Education in Journalism & Mass Communication’s International Communication Division. She is an award-winning journalism professor and university newspaper adviser. She has reported for U.S. newspapers, writes occasional columns and freelanced in China while teaching at Beijing Foreign Studies University. She earned her Ph.D. in Mass Media (Journalism) at Michigan State University, her M.A. in News-Editorial at the University of Missouri–Columbia and her B.A. in International Relations at California State University, Chico.
